POWELL, Michael

Always ‘the Master’. Along with the indefatigable Emeric Pressburger, his films defined an era of robust British gentility, without which we surely would not have won the Second World War. Sadly, with Peeping Tom, he went too far ahead of his time for public taste, and the rest of us are still catching up.
