The really disturbing thing is that BBC4 already had a major tribute to him in the schedules for Sunday – the original Rumpole “Play For Today”, “A Voyage Round My Father” and a brace of documentaries. It wasn’t even a noteworth anniversary, as far as I can work out – his 85th birthday was last April.
