At a time when the Beeb are ferrying us from Poland and Ukraine, though Wimbledon and Silverstone and then onto the Olympic Park, the stuff about the Beeb having no sport seems to have taken a back seat for a bit, though it was never louder than when Grandstand called it a day, even though quite a lot of the time that show in its golden age would be made up of rugby league from Widnes and basketball from Hemel Hempstead, and far better to show sport when it happens rather than cover the 2.30 from Market Rasen for the sake of it. Here’s the story of the ‘stand anyway, and let’s hope they play Forget About You by The Motors, for obvious reasons.
